Effective May 1, 2026, Law Offices of David M. Lederman is proud to announce that two of its own attorneys, Sharmeela Kawos, Partner, and Tabasum Kawos, Attorney, are officially Certified Family Law Specialists, certified by the State Bar of California.
The Certified Family Law Specialist designation is a rigorous credential recognizing attorneys who have demonstrated advanced experience, knowledge, and skill in family law. Attorneys who earn this distinction have passed a written examination, met substantial practice and continuing-education requirements, and completed a peer-review process.
With this achievement, Sharmeela and Tabasum Kawos join the firm’s founder, David M. Lederman, and Meredith Hays, Attorney, in holding the Certified Family Law Specialist (CFLS) designation, bringing the firm’s total to four Certified Family Law Specialists. This milestone reflects both attorneys’ continued growth at the firm and Law Offices of David M. Lederman’s ongoing commitment to providing Bay Area families with exceptional depth, experience, and expertise across complex family law matters.
Ms. Kawos practices exclusively in Family Law and Domestic Relations and serves as a Partner at Law Offices of David M. Lederman. She earned her Doctorate in Jurisprudence from Golden Gate University School of Law, where she received a Certificate of Specialization with Distinction in Family Law. Her background includes, but is not limited to, being an active member of the Contra Costa County Bar Association’s Family Law Section, where she previously served on the Board of Directors, and serving as a past Chair and Advisor on the California New Lawyers Section of the California Lawyers Association. Ms. Kawos is fluent in English, Dari, Farsi/Persian, Hindi, and Urdu.
Ms. Kawos focuses her practice exclusively on Family Law and Domestic Relations, including divorce and child custody. She earned her Doctorate in Jurisprudence from Golden Gate University School of Law, with an emphasis in Family Law, Business Law, and Public Interest Law. Ms. Kawos is an active member of the Contra Costa County Bar Association’s Family Law Section. She speaks English, Dari, Farsi, Hindi, and Urdu.
